There are already trophies, and any other reward involving SP or extra features in clan forums or something would be hard to do/ determine. Mabye some form of new leaderboard for say most recent cw wins in a period of time would help, since that would draw attention to cwing and inspire noobs to train for cws so they could be on that leaderboard eventually

Is not dying, is probably getting repetitive as you already know all the competitive players and probably already have an idea of what playing styles they have. Perhaps you guys should break up the clans and start making new competitive clans and teach low ranks, instead of stacking all the high ranks inside a single clan. For example, when i made bactria, there were not any competitive players for me to invite, all competitive players where already in clans. So i had to resort to recruit non-competitive players, and let me tell you is a nightmare. Non-competitive players are divided in 3 categories: Low ranks that have yet to be introduced into competitive play and may like it or fall into the category below. Low ranks that dislike competitive play because is hard or boring High ranks that never got into competitive play and if they want to do it now i would need to get rid of their bad habits BEFORE i could even start to train them, they usually learn a few things and lose interest in competitive play since is complicated for them, so they return to their old ways and are useless. (Notice how i did not list high ranks that left competitive play, thats because those people would rather rejoin their old clan instead of joining a new one if they ever decide to play competitive again). In theory i am limited to recruit low ranks that have yet to be introduced to competitive games, half of this category are RP players so they will not listen to me if i ask them to come to training (even if i schedule the training at the same time every week) The low ranks that listen and go to the trainings most of the time go inactive a week after they reach rank 6, they never come back and if they do they have forgotten half of the stuff i teach them (but i already kick them for inactivity) Then if the low rank goes to training and does not go inactive, he may leave the clan because all the people he trained with went inactive (as they have yet to develop loyalty to the clan). Few are the ones that made it to mid-rank with a competitive mentality, i allow them to play scenarios when i am not on (they would play even if i tell them not to, and since i can't afford to kick....) they usually like scenarios more than clan wars. I don't blame them, every time we played clan wars it was against high ranks, no clan at the time had active competitive low ranks, perhaps this could change if clans were to be break up and recruit low ranks .

I think a personal prize would be the best. Having your own personal trophy saying you won 1st, 2nd or 3rd in a season might be a good idea (Kinda like trophies for tourney's). To avoid abuse you could do it like certain sports do, with a player having to participate in a certain number of games to receive a medal.

Handing out even MORE useless trophies isn't going to get people to come to the competitive side of atwar.. As an example: We now have the ability to gain trophies for placing in the top 3 of seasonal ELO. But still, the same people are the ones dueling with the exception of a few players.

Mid ranks (6-8) that play competitively should be rewarded. Clans could get bonuses when they make play their midranked players in cw (not alts tho). this would be an incentive to train some low ranks also, There could be a trophy for the midranks that played most cws in a season.

People have been saying this for probably over a year, since the days of UN. Its not dying, just declining. There's actually MORE competitive players nowadays since the game is growing. There's only one critical issue, rank inflation. You think the quality is declining (it is) because when you're playing against a rank 11 who apparently plays Game of Thrones or 50k games all the time and you beat him just as easy. That rank 11 should be probably a rank 8 like me, or even a rank 6. There was a time where being a strong low rank was good. I still hold onto that. The whole issue is the lack of competitiveness between low/mid ranks, which leads to either going to the likes of RP games and/or rapidly gaining SP and going back as a high rank learning what the player should've learned a as a low rank. which creates more rank inflation and even less competitiveness between low/mid ranks. Clan wars are all 9+ now, everybody plays their best lineup. You guys know why we lose a lot of games recently? Because every other clan plays their best 3-5 players every single CW while we play whoever is available. If we played an 887 CW we'd win that 9/10 times. If we played Desu b0nker2 Goblin Stryko Dbacks(rip) every CW we'd take that most of the time too. There lies the problem, in the clans not wishing to train low ranks/lose CWs, and in the players not wishing to be a good low rank rather than having a flashy r11 symbol. There's the two-part problem, now what's the solution? As people have said above me, encouragement. Encouragement is key. Trophies won't do it at all; why get an image on your profile when you can have a scary crown or skull everyone can see? Unfortunately, the solution lies within the community. Yes it's very unfortunate, because quite frankly with the exceptions of some individuals the community sucks. Now what we need to do is gather the non-sucky section of the community (a lot right here in this thread), and work together to motivate new players to seek going barefooted into the long and rocky path of skill that ultimately leads to a marble and gold-plated room over the marble and gold-plated path of SP which is really a hideous turn that spirals back to the path of rock. What I mean is high ranks get bored eventually and go back to competitiveness, and it's our job to prevent that from happening and show them early on that competitiveness is FUN. Which is what 80% of the community who play competitive games don't realize. Apparently they play for prestige and not fun. Which is really skewed and far away from what our AW forefathers have done. The very core of the problem isn't in low ranks, but its in you, reader, fighter for prestige, member of the only and best lineup of your clan, fighter of 90% of your clan's wars, and any player who doesn't play it for pure fun. To channel this encouragement we need to: 1. Be nice to low ranks, (something most players don't do) 2. Don't criticize them for errors, (which is very hypocritical and stupid because I'm pretty sure the criticizers made way worse mistakes) 3. Show them the game is fun, (stop playing for winning and prestige or else you'll lose AW and all its respect) 4. Try to teach them your & other's ways, 5. Once ready, recruit them to your clans at an early stage. Now this was a well thought out post and shows the problems and solutions, I don't expect anyone to follow it but if you are really serious about fixing the community, I have a further solution: This would require dedication and the consent of at least a large portion of the competitive community. I'm talking about somewhat formalizing 3v3s and other competitive games and making it the friendly and competitive place it should be. I'm talking about a committee of sort, something regulating play, serving as a market for low ranks seeking mentors/clans, and endorsing fun. Since players have the power to ban from games, every member of this group would ban rule breakers out of theirs. This way with enough numbers we would be a dominating and regulating body in the competitive section of AW, encouraging fun and inviting low ranks. I'd be willing to head it/make a thread/start recruiting people with enough people's dedication. If you think this is a good idea just PM me, upvote, reply, anything. If I get a decent amount of approval we'll start this up.

As for the clans and cw, there had been a lot of suggestion like limiting the capacity, etc... all you guys need is just to bring all they in one thread.

Get your head out of your arse People have been saying this whenever a clan or two drop out and some motivation is lost - Hey look, here's a forum post from two years ago asserting the same thing, but I think I along with most of the players here can attest former Dalmati players' fears haven't been realized. At least not for the most part: RP is now 50% SP after all. One terrible implementation from the above Dalmati Retirement thread though, is the addition of having your personal CW history on your profile. Before, no one seeked personal glory because CW was only recorded on clan: clan loyalty stood above personal glory and clan hopping. I won't provide specific examples but envision having no personal CW record and what it'd do for clan bond and dynamics. There are other slight problems, no doubt about it, but they are simply slight issues. The only worthwhile remedies are the ones The Tactian proposed and ranked 3v3s: It would give moderators tasks (perhaps fun) other than looking at posts made by illiterate english speakers all day every day

Well unlike in Dalmati's times, admins did changed the CW system some months ago, and it was fun until Cosa dies... The capstacking of high ranks in illyria though, first they got joed and l0rd, both good players and leaders from evoL if my memory doesn't fail. Then Zone, another good player and leader of cosa. Even Dbacks left SM for a short time to join illyria. Illyria is getting all the good Clan Leaders for themselves

1. Caps to the number of players able to join a clan with an allocation of SP points available to use for each clan- this counters the stacking of high ranks. (can be increased for the length of time a clan is active) 2. Anonymous clan wars - this will take away some elements of predictability and staleness in the core 3v3 eu+ game stopping the forced picks 3. Locked cws - no withdrawing once in withdrawals = punishment (yes even for dcs) - again stops the stale picks (coupled with anonymous cws will make players want to learn more countries and prevent withdrawing cos OMG YOU PICKED XYZ) 4. More flash tournaments (see pulses thread) preferably automated - smaller tournaments that are completed within 1 session 5. Clans/duels not being the only competitive things to join, could be sub clans able to join 1 chat 6. Alt accounts automatically identified - linked account in profile, (so low ranks can cw other genuine low ranks) 7. RANKED 3v3s/2v2s!!!!!!!!!! - See cow thread. 8. Open clans for low ranks - starter clans if you will, ie at rank four they are automatically put into a clan with say 10 other mid rank people - this with flash tournaments would increase interest in competition AW

At the end of the day it comes down to the player. Does he want to be competitive or not? I have seen so many members try and help these players who aren't competitive, but it seems a lot of them are not interested. I don't really know what to say or advice from here....

Most new players are more interested in that juicy SP. I could bet most of people playing custom maps are doing it for the SP. Just rebalance the SP system and maybe we could have some more new players.
