Suggestion: Force new players to verify their account with an email address.

EDIT4: As people tend to not like the idea of being forced to sign up, how about a set date and time where the players before this set date and time aren't required for an email. The "veterans" will have this advantage. Maybe a good set date and time would be when I created this thread, as the changes (if it happens) will be obviously in the future. But that can be up to the admins.

The reason being, is that emails can be used to log in, therefore people can only register 1 email account. This will help limit alts since people won't bother to go the extra step of setting up numerous email accounts, exception for the couple crazy people.

Many other games I've played, mainly on Steam, have this verification and it's pretty useful too. Currently users can choose if they want to keep their account safe, but I've only seen this on one other game and that was created in 2006.

EDIT: There's a reason these games are popular.

EDIT2: Found a fast smurfing email provider, for all you paranoid "I quit" peoples: http://www.gmx.co.uk/
(change to .com if you want to)

EDIT3: A nice gif:

I didn't make this suggestion because of trolls, I already know mods can track IPs. It will limit alts, make people play on a main account. If they want an alt they can, but with a new identity.

>makes it less convenient for new players

Tell this to the millions of players who download/buy games from Steam. The tens of thousands of people that login to LoL/Dota2 all day. Many other games too, ofc.

Well, you've definitely put a lot of thought into this, and I admire that, but I'm going to stick with my original opinion

I guess you fall into this section:

You misunderstand: I'm not attacking this idea, nor do I dislike it just for the sake of doing so. I have my own reasons do differ from your opinion, but you (and anyone else who stands with you on this opinion) would take them in the wrong way.

Oh, I don't doubt it: my opinion on this is very simple: we do not require e-mails to create an account in atWar. As to the reasons why I think this, a few other people have already stated them.

What I say has little influence on people anyway, because of the rank barrier that makes certain players (me) seem inferior to others (you) simply because they haven't played as long as them. Basically, we're not debating any huge matter, because the out-come of this (even if I proved my points) would have almost 0 impact on the decision. It's just how this system works: No matter how convincing one may sound, players will almost always (80% of the time?) side with the higher rank (even though the higher rank might be wrong). I'm not saying you're wrong either (after all, what IS right and wrong when debating a setting in atWar?), I'm just sharing my thoughts.

A rank barrier? People can get technical on me but this guy had a rank 4 account, and only few people knew who he really was.

put out your voice and people will listen, trust me.

Will do, will do...

But this guy was stating a whole new concept. I'm stating my opinions against a person who has played atWar for a veeeerrry long time. What's the chances they choose to support an r5's side over your's?

Granted, veterans will most likely have more of the ideas that improve the atWar community, but people can't instantly dismiss an opinion just because it came from an r3-6 (the topic you linked your post to was an example, but instances like those are very rare)

Not sure if anyone said this because I am not going to bother sifting through the arguments, but why not make guest accounts not have to register their email, but when they go to make a full account have them enter an email? Also limit what a Guest can do, such as: make/join clans, buy premium, post in forums etc...

I don't know what the others are doing, but I've been busy making myself two dozen dummy email accounts at the site you linked.

You know... just in case.

i'm pretty sure we have this system already... any changes to a guest account makes a "real" account.
