Well, look at it this way. If the Earth is flat it would still need the same mass to generate the measure of gravity that keeps us here. Now the problem with this is that gravity centralizes itself around one point, forming a balanced shape, AKA a sphere. Every object that is larger than a certain size will inevitable mold itself into a sphere.

gravity is a force by which all things are effected by the earths pull to impart a force, denoted in weight by the unit Newton/kilogram(N/kg) or equivelantly represented as 9.81 m/s"2.
however as to the reference about the earth being in a sphere that is not entirely true as there is actually a difference in the force of gravity acting on different parts of the earth, meaning the earth isnt actually a perfect sphere but more like an egg with a giant mole called mount everest our the side of it. so if you stand at the poles of the earth gravity is actually 0.04 N/kg more than that of a person standing at the poles because the poles are closer to the centre of the earth than that of the equator, thus making you heavier at the poles by not gaining any extra mass. "this difference in weights negligible though"(for the majority of products {99.99%} do not need to be specifically designed with this difference factored in the equation)

as to how you prove it there are fancier ways to do this but jump off a cliff and see what happens i;m sure it'll be fun, (disclaimer) i will not be held accountable for were you end up.

if you genuinely! want to believe that the force of gravity does not exist just do an engineering course in any college anywhere, you'll see that gravity is the most relevant factor in the design and construction of every single thing that you have ever used.
