Half way through the season!

Great news to everybody: the duel seasons are becoming more intense as the time pass!

To understand this a bit here's the evolution of the Duel Seasons.

The first one started great in the hands of duelists such as Zone, Eagle, Laochra, Goblin, and all the other common duelists. The competition was kept great specially after the announcement of medals for top 3. However the fight was mostly based in Lifetime ELO at least until the quarter before the first season ends.

The results of the second season improved greatly with the participation of players such as creyente, opi, clovis (hi), PonteZ (dark horse of the last season!) , panteri, and another number of duelists. Most of the actual peaks in Seasonal ELO were established during the second season.

The third promised more competition with the apparition of new duelists such as Mauzer Panteri, Hammer., and the early apparition of Ghost (dark horse of this season!). However it suffered from the lack of players (due to HTML merge) and got stunk for a long time, stopping the previous progress. Records in duels stayed < 1400 peak for this one.

With this season, the 4th, the competence had recovered now with the great activity of players such as Mecoy, Hammer, Critical, Heat Check, dinoscout, Ghost, Prometheus, etc. We can also see Ancient taking relevance in this season with the duels of Kraigg, Xcolonisator and Don.. . The lack of old generation players such as Panteri, Laochra, Mauzer, Zone and Goblin is noticeable in this one however. It is also noticeable the loss of the 1500 lifetime record of some players, in flavor of their seasonal.

Facts about this season:

129 ELO difference between 1st and 12th positions.
Max ~25 ELO gap between two positions (nearby stable).

This break up with the old seasons where it was usually a couple of players with high ELO in the top position and a big gap between the positions.

Just curious since I was not around then, what made the first season better than any of the following seasons?

you had chess zone pontez myself eagles goblin as well as the regulars like acquiesce and eagle. Don actually played properly back then. It was fresh and there was great competition. there hasnt been the same competition since. Easy wins for clovis with his activity levels. He didnt even rank top 3 first season. I hope it picks up again. Right now the only top tier players that compete are clovis eagle and i guess opi/panteri.

It was fresh and there was great competition. there hasnt been the same competition since. Easy wins for clovis with his activity levels. He didnt even rank top 3 first season. I hope it picks up again. Right now the only top tier players that compete are clovis eagle and i guess opi/panteri.

Now it's a great time for newer/upcoming players to step in and fill the activity/skill gap.

i hope so, from where im standing aw is losing its top players faster than its replacing them. Whether the others will reach the same level its yet to be seen.

This season marks a great diversity in duels, that they are no longer limited to Europe games. I think it energize Atwar, and I welcome this change:)

thats happened every season though, youve just been inactive and havent seen it. if someone starts ranking from duels in another map or setting, players will go after his elo. It's the same with cws. If a clan emerges that wants cws on a different map, i guarantee you theyll get them. Theres been many examples.

The statement of competitive season being worsen everyday is pretty much as old as the statement of atWar drying. I would comfortably put anyone from this generation against Dalmati at their peak (Say, dino and heat vs caulerpa and Young acquiesce).

Ok thanks good to know. I guess it is the natural course of games for older players to move on to other things, hopefully this season's competition can pick up. I know from my perspective dueling is a lot of fun and very competitive, but I am still newish so I can see how it could be "stale" to older players.

Considering myself as part of the "newer generation" I can say at least the activity gap is hopefully being filled, now just time will tell if we can catch up in skill.

Don't listen to them. They just want to preasure new players to duel them and win more elo! Evil Clovis and Lao...
Skill only takes some time and practice, you'll make it sooner or later

indeed dalmati were wrong. A more active and competitive era of cws followed with mk illy sm syndi cosa nostra, whatever clan the vs players were in, pl etc.

Perhaps the same will happen again. But right now, yea its not great.

Guys, pls, you're being overdramatic... instead of looking everything with past perspectives, why not looking at it with future perspectives? Prepare today's noobs in order to have a future similar to how things in the past have been, nothing happened by coincidence. As far as I've been seen around, there are plenty newbies ready to be trained, taught, showed, listened and prepared. I've already picked one myself who I think is fun and worthy of practising with! And same thing I have done in the past many times with players you now see or have seen to have a bright present

I played like 208 duels right now in this season only, bla taken 4 min from my life to count them...

there are plenty of noobs, it's finding the ones that have potential and the will to train to play competitively that's the problem.

I've found by chance two or three that would be willing to be trained in only two days of searching... it's all matter of trying to find someone.

You don't need to get in any clan in order to be trained, just ask for help to people like me!

Meanwhile yeo has 15 consecutive duel losses

This week was intense (and haven't ended yet!) with lots of up and downs. At some point I got thrown back and Mecoy managed to get #1. Just yesterday opi was #1 as well. But right now there is a scary difference of ~73 elo between 1st and 2nd, ~50 between 2nd and 3rd, and lastly around 200 ELO difference between #1 and #12...

On the good side, lao is active in duels once again
