Hells Ancient World Remastered

Greetings fellow conquerors, with the new map maker right around the corner, i have decided to revive a former project of mine i think you guys will enjoy. Avatars Ancient World is one of atwars most popular maps, and i enjoy it emensly, however i have always had the feeling it is not as good as it could possibly be, i believe with revamped borders, more of the world and more historic units and regions, i could make ancient world into a much better map, unfortunatly talks with avatar have fallen through and i could not gain the privilege to work on the original masterpiece, so i have decided to make my own. So thats what im going to do now.

Thus far i have finished the greek cultural sphere, it is one of the most densily populated and wealthy spheres in my envisioned world.

In the map we will use a base set of units, with unique and powerful units spread throughout the map similar to avatars idea, however, my units will not all be ground other, allowing for people to create greater depth and strategy by taking key regions they know have a spacific unit. I am also in need of help with adding unit pictures, for some reason, atwar refuses to allow me to add any pictures to units. Im guessing it is a unintentional bug.

I will also be doing polls on which region you guys would like me to add next and ill be making presets of all sorts, publishing the greek preset as soon as i can get pictures added to the units. The first poll will be linked here. https://atwar-game.com/forum/topic.php?topic_id=36334#m625974

I will be posting updates on this thread whenever i make progress on the map. I would also like to hear from you guys about things youd like added. Or things you dont like about the map.

Greetings fellow conquerors, today i bring to you the first update to the map, i have added a large portion of the middle east to the map, with interesting pastoral tribal unit, and among many great and powerful empires that spanned the region. Here is a look at the new region.

Now i know people are going to say there are to many cities, but to accuratly portray the region i thought it was neccassary for this particular area, i promise you most of the map will have far less cities, other then these two regions, only persia, china, japan, and india, will be nearly as dense.

I am also still looking for someone who would like to collaborate on the map and add unit pictures, i will give you credit on the map for your work.

Hello there everyone, the second update is now completed and features ancient egypt and its surrounding regions. Im looking for suggestions for african units for the north west east and south, as i intend to do large portions of coastal africa, aswell as many inland portions aswell, so if anyone has any ideas on some really cool units for those regions let me know. Today i was feeling good and decided to do another region before bed, which actually makes the map fully playable. Still need unit pictures but its playable so hey there is that, just need amok to port it to html5 so if everyone would message him to update maps and scenarios so new maps are playable that would be great for balancing and testing as i continue to work on the map. Hi guys good news, this is the day, the first public release version is live now, and you can host the map at your liesure, eventually i will allow people to use it for custom scenarios and presets but for now that will remain unavailable. Also apart of this update i have finished the islands of britain and and surrounding areas. You can find that screen shot below.

Hi guys the next update is out, alot of people complained about poland even though i stressed its importence of being a barrier to north/south expansion, so i added a migritory route and two tribes there. I also added the western siberian region and the ugric tribes of the north. Im having dificulty finding source meterial for this region so if you guys got any suggestions for tribes im willing to edit them in. You can check out the new region below.

Hi guys today i bring to you a unit over haul, many people complained about the balance of the current units and i heard yah, therefor im redoing them from scratch, this will be a three part update, update one was all the units from persia to the west, update two will be india and to the east, and the final one will be much later when i add, africa and indonesia. No Screen shot this time as there are far to many units, and the editor bugs if i leave the unit screen up to long. If you have any unit suggestions let me know and ill consider adding them. White is hard to create borders with, those are things we change after map completion.

Love the new map, It is absolutely Amazing, I recommend for extra realness, Making some locations names in there Home Languages, For expample, Spanish lands having Spanish Names.

thats impossible because many people who live in regions now, where not around back then, encluding your suggestions for spanish. They where iberians with there own distinct language in the south and west, and germanic(suebi, Basque) people which eventually became spanish in the north.

The map looks like very promising, but i think your border style is uncommon for the acient world players. Imo that will be your main problem. I really like your border style especially on your new Game of Thrones map .

Mozilla fire fox version 51.0. 52 has issue with silverlight and 53 completly removes capability. You'll also have to turn auto update off in the settings.

Won't be till later in the day probably around 6pm est. Maybe sooner maybe later. But the map is already published the Mediterranean preset is completed. It's playable, just needs unit pictures. I'll also be doing the entire map so from europe to China Australia to africa.

Just played the first game on it had a lovely 3 way Greek War whit Mauo & Helly cant wait till the next pieces of the map are added in, deffi is a fun map to play

I really don't mean to be rude Helly, but I was wondering where you got the names for hispanic regions. From your screenshot, some names don't make sense to me, such as "Basqulteni" or "Hippo Ibiza". Others need to be fixed if you ask me: "Calaeci"? It's Gallaecia, also called Callaecia but I'd suggest the first one better. "Emperion" should be "Emporion", but it's not really an area, it's just the name of a port. "Celtciti" should be rewritten as "Celtici".

These maps may help you decide better:





The most relevant ones should be Gallaecia, Astures, Cantabri, Lusitani, Celtiberi, Vascones, Ilergetae, Turdetani and Bastetani, but this is just my little opinion and just an attempt to help

I usually don't like Ancient maps but this looks outstanding, also gib Germania
