Where have the intellectuals gone?

I see two kinds of people on this website now, when it used to be a such a mismash of every culture you could think of: Trolls and Noobs. Why? Why has this website's community become a pun of itself? People that used to be quite literate and open-minded now seem closed and devolved. It really saddens me to know that it's gone down this path, I was really hoping for something more. This cannot be blamed on any one individual, but everyone, for letting puns overtake conversation, and survival overtaking equality. I will be flamed in this thread by a group of plebians, I'm sure of it, but just know that I am indebted to this community and wish to see it turn into something more than another average website; I want it to be special again. It hasn't been since August 2011 in my opinion, but that may even be an overestimate. I cannot and will not outline what I find to be a solution to what I find to be a problem, but rather watch as it progresses into a culture, then something more. Funny? A single-word conception based upon the delinquency or utter stupidity of others being overly-used as a conversation adhesive, replacing actual culture, is "funny"? It's hardly even a concept, it's more of a cancer than a joke. "Good"? These "good" people racially insult you, spy on you, and tell you Macedonia is a false country? These people are "good"? Name a person that does good without being overly evil and I will try and accept your point, but it simply does not exist in my eyes. If a person can deem himself good for the wrongs he does, than he is a liar, and that is all I see when I read these forums and attempt to play these games.

Gardevoir I agree with you. That the number of these cancers have gone up but the community still has its stronghold of intellectual people. Let's just hope it stays that way.

Gardevoir I agree with you. That the number of these cancers have gone up but the community still has its stronghold of intellectual people. Let's just hope it stays that way.

I don't seem them often, then. Stay the way it is? I'd rather the cancer move on and learn to respect people and forget, or just walk away. This "stronghold" should come out of the walls more often, and converse with the plebians, like it used to be.

Yeah, I have to side with Gardy on this one. The intelligence level here has honestly dropped a few clicks.

Ignoring LilD's comment above ^^ , I agree 100% with Acq and Avatar. The only reason I am still here is for the people that play this game. I myself have to admit that I am quite nooby at this game, and the only reason I log in most of the time is talk to my mate because people like me like meeting people around the world. Even if they are a funny troller or a weirdo, its still feels great to talk to them. I could name more than Avatar's list that are great people on AW. Gard you always see the negative side of things, but maybe its time you turn towards the bright light .

I could also tell you some nice people like Glennmiller or Kona-chan (Clovek30) were one of my best friends here, because of the awesome things they've done to keep me running in this game.

Even if there are trolls in this game, I think they are here to keep the balance of good people and trolls. They are what hold Afterwind together with the good people.

And this from you Gardy boy. Oh my. You're like the biggest wannabe ever, the way you talk alone exposes you as one. I mean really, plebeians? You can't even spell that word correctly and still use it to sperate yourself from people you obviously think to be stupid and narrow minded. That's what I would call being narrow minded.
In truth they are just young people to whom this game and subsequently it's forum are nothing more than a way of having fun. If they have fun trolling let them, it's what this site is there for. This is not for deep political discussions or such. Of course you can have them, but mainly this is a game forum that doesn't revolve around questioning existential matters. People come here to enjoy their time and turn their heads off, not for having life changing talks with other 14 year olds.

Anyways, how about you start with reviving your so called Afterwind culture by going back to this -> topic and answering KengurBGDs posts in a proper way? You talk of open-mindedness yet answer to all of his well thought out posts that are obviously a matter of heart to him with only a few words or sentences. Is that what your glorious old day conversations looked like? For once, try to put yourself into his shoes. Try to see what he sees, he's a proud man from a totally diffrent culture and his country is more and more falling apart. Your points may still stand after you did that, but you will be able to have a way better conversation with him, actually answering to all of his points and trying to make him a little more open to the idea of his country losing even more land. Good conversations are an exchange and he gave you a lot, while you repayed him with shit.

Guys, It is impossible to stop trolls and noobs. No matter what you do, they will always be there but nonetheless, I agreed 100% with LDK, Acq, Avatar and learster.

The reason I get trolled is because I try to impress people I admire, but fall flat on my ass in embarrassment every time because I don't know how to think of counter-arguments and common sense.

You might be right in the matter of what you bring, but not everyone agrees and after all, it's just a game. People come to have fun. Also the average age is lower on the site now so yes most will have a lower intellect. You were quite the troll if I remember correctly, back when i was a rank 2, always spamming global you were. However, I'm not posting to troll or go against you, but I do think that maybe letting go is essential for you.
