Well, we don't have the most people, or the smartest people, or the richest people (China, Japan etc., Monaco etc.). We don't even have 100% adult literacy!
We do have the most people in jail, and we fight more wars than anyone in the last 100 years, and do have a kick ass army and the country has a high GDP. Does that make us superior?

We were once the only national representative government. That was a long time ago. These days, we have less freedom (economic, civil and political) than places like Canada, Australia (more civil and political freedom) and Hong Kong (economic freedom). We don't even have the largest democracy.
